WHO AM I?
Tick. Tick. Tick. Keep a clock on the table. Sit on a chair beside the table. Try to hear the sound.
Can you hear it? Yes! But, how long?
Sound, a vibration hits the eardrum of our ear. The wave goes to the auditory section of our brain through the auditory nerve. And we get a perception of the sound. Our brain analyses it, we recognize the sound.
Our sense of smell, taste, and vision all involve chemical reactions, but our hearing system is based solely on physical movement.
Now, what happened in this case! The clock is there. The tick, tick sound is also present. I am physically good enough to hear the sound. Then why don’t I listen to the sound continuously?
The process goes as follows:
That’s fine. All the required accessories are available in our case. Then what is that abstains me to hear the tick, tick sound of the clock?
Something is missing…… A required link is missing here…… What is that?
It is nothing but the mind.
Our mind connects us with the world and everything that is happening around us.
So the process should be :
Source of sound => medium => pinna => ear canal => wave of vibrations => eardrum =>cochlea => sensory hair cells => nerve impulse => nerve => mind => temporal lobe =>hearing centre in the temporal lobe to recognize the sound and to determine their tones and loudness.
I may say:
My name is John. This is my car. This is my shirt. This is my hand. This is my body. Then who I am?
I am someone who is not John. Someone who is not this body. Someone who is not the mind too.
The MIND connects ME with this name as well as with this body. So, the mind is the connector.
I am neither this body nor the mind.
QUESTION IS: Who am I!
